Community Perinatal Health Worker Training

Are you interested in supporting pregnant moms from pregnancy to postpartum?

Birth Strides wants to expand its reach and provide training for Black women living within Memphis, TN. We offer a three(3) month training which includes birth and postpartum doula, basic breastfeeding support, and childbirth education.  We apply the reproductive justice lens to our work which means that we consider each mother as a whole person with a whole life filled with intersections that can impact her pregnancy, birth, and ability to parent successfully. At Birth Strides, we believe that it is the right of every birthing mother to have culturally sound support and education from pregnancy to postpartum. Because many of our moms see several different doctors during their pregnancy, there is no continuity of care. Our CPHWs perform the doula and breastfeeding support roles for each client served as a way to ensure there is continuity of support. Each mom is assigned a CPHW and they are with her from the time she enters the program until completion.

Currently, we are able to offer training at no cost and provide a nominal stipend to those selected for training. In exchange for no cost training, Birth Strides requires a one year commitment of service for which there is a per client  and per childbirth class compensation.  After one year, commitments may be renewed and compensation will continue for your service.
