Support Us In Supporting Black Mothers And Babies
Birth Strides provides no cost doulas and childbirth education to Black mothers in high needs neighborhoods throughout Memphis, TN. We believe that every pregnant mother deserves culturally sound preparation and support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Our childbirth prep classes provide medically accurate, evidence-based information and includes incentives for participants such as diapers, wipes, and postpartum toiletries for mom. Our doula services include 3-4 prenatal visits at the family's home, continuous support during the birth, and 8 weeks of postpartum support. By providing these services at no cost, we create equity that promotes great birth outcomes for Black families in Memphis.
Birth Strides provides training for Black women from within the neighborhoods we serve to be Community Perinatal Health Workers. This training covers birth and postpartum doula, childbirth preparation, and basic breastfeeding support trainings. By providing these trainings at no cost, we create equity that gives women who are underrepresented in this work an opportunity to learn, serve, and gain greater economic capacity.

Our fiscal sponsor, Project Motherpath, Inc. is a 501c3 organization working to normalize and revalue all aspects of motherhood through education, outreach, community building and activism. They began as a pair of mamas who wanted to organize a local revolution, and create change - one birth, one mama at a time. Their mission is to empower women and families by providing quality care, education and support focused on fostering independence and respectfully guiding them through the often challenging journey of pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting.
